God's Natural Design

One woman asked me on a post about Reparative Therapy this question, "God created all of us so why wouldn't he love someone who he made a homosexual? Why would we want to change them?"

God's natural design for the family will be significantly impacted as homosexuality becomes more  common, and more politically correct. You cannot watch a TV show without seeing something to do with homosexuality as Hollywood has accepted it as "The New Normal."  It is wise for us to have a well reasoned and Biblical response to questions on this important family subject.  Here is Ken's response to this reader's question. ~

I might respond that God indeed loves the homosexual person as much as he loves all of His children. Indeed He asks all men and women to turn from their sin and seek Him, with the promise that those who seek Him will indeed find Him. "We all like sheep have walked away" from our God and each one of us has to come to terms with our sin and allow Christ to save us so we may live with God forever.

God did not make me a liar or selfish. He did not make me lust, nor make me struggle with my own sexual temptations. My sexual orientation may be to want to make love with multiple women, yet I know His godly design is that I love just one, my wife.

No I was born in the flesh and into sin.  Sin is all around me beckoning me to follow after my flesh instead of after God and His ways. Why does a homosexual get a free pass with his sins under the excuse that "God made me this way," but all of my sins I am to battle against, and own, recognizing the need for my Savior?

No, every one of us must come to God with whatever struggles against sin He has allowed in our lives.  Faith recognizes that God never makes a mistake, and in Jesus we find all the answers to sin and a life of godliness, IF we choose Him.

I like what the Pope said recently as he praised the Chief Rabbi of France:

"Gilles Bernheim, has shown in a very detailed and profoundly moving study that the attack we are currently experiencing on the true structure of the family, made up of father, mother, and child, goes much deeper...The manipulation of nature, which we deplore today where our environment is concerned, now becomes man’s fundamental choice where he himself is concerned.

From now on there is only the abstract human being, who chooses for himself what his nature is to be. Man and woman in their created state as complementary versions of what it means to be human are disputed. But if there is no preordained duality of man and woman in creation, then neither is the family any longer a reality established by creation...

When the freedom to be creative becomes the freedom to create oneself, then necessarily the Maker himself is denied and ultimately man too is stripped of his dignity as a creature of God, as the image of God at the core of his being. The defense of the family is about man himself. And it becomes clear that when God is denied, human dignity also disappears. Whoever defends God is defending man."

When the creature denies the nature God has given him, and chooses an unnatural state based on sexual preference, the fundamental building block of the family is undermined. So long as the homosexual stays private with their sexual preferences, they are welcome in my home and in my church, we can be friends.  The Christian shows love to all people no matter what their fleshly desires, just as we are accepted for our sins. But when homosexuality becomes a political agenda to recreate what God has established by nature and by His Word, then it is important that Christians, in love, stand firm for the family, as God has designed it; husband, wife and children. Save God's environment!

Reparative therapy may well be an acknowledgement of one's fleshly desires and helpless condition to overcome sin apart from the saving grace of Jesus. In Jesus, we are made alive to God,  dead to sin and freed from sin.  All sins fall away at the mention of the cross of Jesus who has conquered all. We get to participate with Jesus through faith to overcome the flesh and live out life according to God's ways.

We all need reparative therapy for we are lost souls who can be freed only by the work of the cross of Christ and made brand new by the work of the Spirit and God's Word. The saving grace of the cross is available to all men,  women and gays, for there is no end to the love of God for all who will love and seek their Creator and acknowledge Him as their God.

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened...because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
